Crib Dilemma

I was all set to buy the Jenny Lind crib and then saw a version in person and was let down by the quality. The crib was important to me get right as it's where the teeny baby slumbers and I feel like it sets a tone for the room.  I am indecisive at best when it comes to decorating rooms and throw in being pregnant and the whole thing gets that much more difficult. But after looking at way too many options, I came back to the simplicity of the Ikea Gulliver crib or Sniglar crib (what a name) . Nothing much to it, but having now seen them online in nurserys and in friend's homes, they have that cozy, light, sweetness that I was hoping for in a crib. Tomorrow night we go to buy both the crib and a white dresser to use as a changing table/storage and I feel like now we are really getting things moving on the whole baby room! As I guess we should be, being that we have about 2 and half more months left...

  2. I'm having the same exact crib dilemnas/obsessions! The Century crib from Dwell and the Caravan crib by Kalon are my dream cribs, but I'm torn up about spending practically the whole nursery budget on one of them. The Sniglar is definitely my runner up (esp. after seeing it on Wee Textile where I found your comment and blog address!). Can you please share what you think of it? I went to see it in person at two IKEAs, and one felt a little rough on the wood (like it needed to be sandpapered) and the other was very smooth. I'm hoping you love it because at $70, it's a steal!

  3. I did buy the ikea crib and am completely in love. at first i felt bad, like i was ripping my baby off by going so cheap but it's sturdy and sweet with clean lines and fits into the baby room perfectly. there never was an issue with it feeling rough and i was able to spend more money on other fun things for the baby...i just couldn't justify putting most of my budget towards a crib. good luck with your decision! i will posting a photo of the little crib soon so you can see what i did with it - it's a great neutral piece of furniture so you can go in all sorts of directions with it.
